Craftmanship (Thinking More About the User)
With each day, I find myself getting deeper into the craft of software development. For years, my primary focus was “Does it work?”. That has shifted in the last year to encompass more than functionality. I now find myself asking questions such as:
- How will the user see this?
- Is it easy to use?
- Does it solve the fundamental problem?
Just asking a few more questions has helped shaped the manner in which I work and how quickly I can iterate through a design into an actual product that someone can use.
When I hear the phrase “that’s hard” now, it simply translates to “that requires time, attention and effort”.
